Digital Signage Case Study

Omnivex Digital Signage at Oracle

Client:

The client is the global, industry-leading, database software company, who for almost 30-years have been helping their customers manage their business systems with reliable, secure and integrated technologies.

As the world’s largest business software company, the client services over 345,000 customers, including 100 of the Fortune Global 100 companies and supports these customers in more than 145 countries.

 The Brief:

PacificWave’s client approached us with the sole aim and view of improving their internal communications across the UK, replacing their legacy, flash-based, i-poster system which operated in the key, client focused areas. Within the brief, the client also wanted to upgrade the visual hardware in the same key area’s with full HD LCD display screens, future proofing the technology and solution delivering the key messages to their internal and external clients, increasing their real-time message and communication system, as well as protect their investment on-going.

The brief also outlined that the system needs to be flexible, scalable and secure enough to allow their own external user groups access to the system in the future. The main aim and provision for this is to provide the user group and key individuals with an opportunity to upload content relevant to their monthly user group forum

The installation:

Once appointed as the contracted audiovisual partner, PacificWave met with their client and designed the systems roadmap for the upgrade of their visual communication system within their offices in Birmingham, Edinburgh, London and Reading.

The installation delivered over a period of three-weeks and outside of normal working hours, included engineers working across eight-buildings, over four sites and under some of the strictest installation conditions we’ve had to work under as a result of the information being carried and area’s of access we required.

The installation saw PacificWave run localised, dedicated AV networks on a CAT5e backbone, also controlled from and monitored by an on-site technician within their London office over their company WAN. The installation was delivered on-site, below budget and according to the client’s exact specification and this was thanks to the use of the latest technology, underpinned by precise project management and system delivery.

Equipment used:

For the delivery of this state-of-the-art visual communication system, PacificWave supplied, installed, commissioned and currently maintains the following equipment:

  • 9no. NEC LCD 5220 full 1080p LCD display screens, including speakers
  • 1no. Omnivex Display 3.0 Director software license
  • 1no. Omnivex DataPipe 3.0 Server software license
  • 1no. Omnivex XMLLink3.0 software license
  • 11no. Omnivex Display 3.0 Player software licenses

Included within the system, PacificWave also re-utilised some existing LCD panels that the client had made recent investments in and the client also supplied PacificWave with the DELL PC hardware, on which the Omnivex software was loaded too and operates on.

The Omnivex visual communication software was selected by the client as it is perfectly aligned to their own image; it is a powerful, globally recognised and leading software platform designed to execute the exact delivery of the desired task. The Omnivex platform, following a successful trial, has since been expanded upon and now allows the client the delivery of automated, up-to-the-minute, corporate and public relations information across the UK.

Summary:

The client has express their sincerest gratitude to PacificWave for the timely, effective and non-disruptive system delivery of the Omnivex visual communication platform. They have further expressed an interest to expand the functionality and delivery of the Omnivex system into their key and major European office locations, provide a truly wide-area, visual communication and digital signage network
