What I learnt was that when configured in the correct way the software is by far the most user friendly CCTV management software I have witnessed to date. The scenarios in which this tool can be used are endless, from providing an easy to use video recording tool, thru to the more complex tasks such as number plate recognition.

 

The number plate recognition is a fantastic tool which can be connected to a third party application such as Dacolian to handle the data (in this case it would be a database of all UK number plates). Milestone would then act as a front end, providing the user with detailed reporting on what number plates have been recognised.

 

The scenario we worked on was that when a number plate was recognised it would open a security barrier, when a number plate was recognised but was not associated with the allowed list of number plates the barrier would stay shut. An email would then automatically be created by the Milestone software and sent to whoever you wish to raise the alert with. In this case it was a security officer at the gatehouse.

 

This is just a simple scenario which hopefully gives you a better picture of what kind of integration the Milestone products are capable of.

 

Oh, and I rinsed the test and passed without even revising……..it’s that easy to use!
